Just like all of you, I go through CL on the daily.

I want this. So badly. I've wanted a late 60's F100 for a few years now and this one is so clean.
But I can't have two cars. -_-
Kept getting Kinja'd so here are a few other trucks, not the one in my area.

it seems that f100s are GasMonkey's staple. indications are they just buy up any f100 they see, do a standard process on it for a reliable flip

I think the baby moons are probably the best wheel look for these.

I had that exact same Yellow one in highschool. 390ci . I had to use a broom handle to check how much fuel I had. (always on fumes....390 duh.)

Are you actually in the market? Or just gawking as we all do?
![]() 03/12/2015 at 12:55 |

Gawking per usual but I have had it in my head that maybe I should move on from the FoST. Love it and all but the possibility of selling it and getting out from my loan is constantly in the back of my head. I could come out ahead of my loan, get into something else and save up some spare change for the future.
I really love the old F100s. You know I love trucks. I emailed the guy for more info just because, as my buddy said, "you will never be content if you miss out because you didn't ask." But I'm averse to change and this would be a HUGE change. Selling my car and buying something else would be a HUGE change. I'm not good with that...so I'd need to have people behind me (friends checking out what I'm looking at, etc).
That being said, my girlfriend responded as follows: "id support it 3000% if you did"

Haha nice.
Now would this be a DD or a fun side vehicle?
Would the profit from the FoST give you enough cash to purchase out right or would you be purchasing 2 vehicles then?
![]() 03/12/2015 at 13:10 |

Anything I swap from the FoST would be a DD, supplemented by my motorcycle (that I'm on the fence about selling).
Judging by KBB and local listings, I'm ahead on my loan but not enough to purchase outright at $8k. I've been looking up stuff around $5k but it's such a departure from the FoST and my lease that I'm actually terrified of the possibility of doing it.

I don't recommend this old of a vehicle as a DD. Especially one you want to grab at 5k, it's just not going to be up to the job bro.
If you sold the FoST and the bike (if that's something you're thinking about) you could get a much nicer older truck.
Where are you again? I've got a buddy who's on the fence about selling his 80's Ford F150 which is immaculate and runs/drives like brand new.

I'm in Boston.
And yeah, the conversation with my gf was about the truck age and how it doesn't make sense for me to sell the FoST and rely on that. I love having a bike but don't use it enough to justify it right now...though I own it and could just work on it instead. Doesn't cost anything haha.
I run through so many scenarios and options in my head that I get overwhelmed and never end up doing anything. Common issue.

Meh.
Maybe sell the bike and get a project truck? I love the Montego and it's a hell of a car but I wouldn't depend on it for DD service. Right now I won't even drive it an hour away (I need to get the valve seals done though lol). But there's going to be maintenance, all these trucks are over 30 years old. As strong/durable as parts used to be made they DO wear out.
If you wanted a DD of this age I'd pony up for a perfect one.
How much would the bike be worth if you sold it?
![]() 03/12/2015 at 13:33 |
|
Bike isn't worth much...maybe $2k if I get it running smooth, likely less. I've had some issues with it pretty much the entire time I've had it and it never looked that pretty. Was going to clean it up this weekend, though.
Was thinking about a beater truck to replace it but I live in an apartment and don't have room to work on anything. That's the problem.
The beater truck would be ideal because it would give me my truck/SUV fix I've been missing for about 4 years now but unless it's a DD I would have to wait on that.
Also, got a buddy in Philly who's always looking at trucks if your friend is near there.

Nah, we're out in Michigan, Metro Detroit area. He's been on the fence because his collection is a tad large at the moment, he loves the truck is the problem haha.

If I was in Michigan we would have met up by now, I promise you that.
And that's not a problem...not in my mind! Been there.

Haha he's running out of room though and has to pay for off site storage during the winter.
Odd collection he has, NA Miata, 86 F150, DD Honda CRV, 1 other I can't remember, and they have what he called the crappy jeep that won't die up north at a cabin they visit a couple times of year - an 05 Liberty.
Haha well if you're out in Michigan stop by for some Montego-ness

Weird collection there haha.
And absolutely.

haha.
Our house has 1 crazy dog, 1 crazy 2 year old, 1 08 Jeep Commander, 1 07 Mercury Milan, 1 68 Mercury Montego.
And we've also had an odd combination of 06 Jeep Liberty, 04 Chevy Blazer and 68 Montego.
